Whole Foods Market Kicks Off Shoes For Crews Day in Boca Raton

Whole Foods Market invited Shoes For Crews to help celebrate Team Member Appreciation Week at their east Boca Raton, FL location on Friday, April 26, 2019.

It was the perfect opportunity for members of the Shoes For Crews corporate team, headquartered just up the street in Boca Raton, to help Whole Foods Market highlight the importance of safety in the workplace and see its slip-resistant footwear program in action. (Expect additional Shoes For Crews events at Whole Foods Market locations all over North America—so check this blog often to see if we’re coming to your town!)

Shoes For Crews is the official safety footwear provider for all 500 Whole Foods Markets in the U.S. and Canada. Whole Foods Market cares about the safety of its Team Members (or “TMs” for short), and the slip-resistant footwear program is an important component of their overall safety plan. TMs in many departments receive a yearly subsidy toward Shoes For Crews safety shoes, and all TMs enjoy special discount pricing on all Shoes For Crews styles.

Safety Program Awareness

Members of the Shoes For Crews corporate team, including account management, product development and marketing, dedicated their Friday to consulting with Whole Foods Market TMs on safety solutions most appropriate for their specific departments.

TMs got an up-close look at a wide range of safety styles displayed at the event as well as the opportunity to interact with Shoes For Crews staff, who assisted in placing orders for shoes on the dedicated Whole Foods Market shopping portal, looking up purchase histories and subsidy balances.

“Today’s event provided a perfect opportunity for deepening and developing the longstanding Shoes For Crews/Whole Foods Market relationship,” said Audra Murray, strategic account manager Shoes For Crews. “Meeting and getting to know Team Members one-on-one, learning about their specific safety and comfort concerns, helps Shoes For Crews to continue to provide the best possible service.”

“Depending on what department they work in—such as meat & seafood, produce, prepared foods, specialty—TMs have specific needs depending on the work environment,” Murray explained. “Some work in cold environments; others require a safety toe boot; others stand on their feet for long shifts. Shoes For Crews offers a broad assortment of products designed for the needs of each Whole Foods Team Member.”

Whole Foods Market TMs  need safety and comfort–but they also want variety and style. Shoes For Crews offers dozens of slip-resistant styles that food retail professionals can feel good about wearing, styles that are safe and comfortable to wear but also help them express their own unique individual style.

Food and Fun

At lunchtime, the Whole Foods Market Team invited Shoes For Crews to their outdoor “cookout” in the store’s parking lot to enjoy free burgers and all the fixings—a great way to celebrate TGIF in the South Florida sunshine.

At the Whole Foods/Shoes For Crews event, hard work and dedication were in evidence alongside laughter, smiles and a sense of fun. Shoes For Crews staff had a great time mingling with the Boca TMs: “Looks like Whole Foods Market TMs really do enjoy a high-energy, positive work environment,” commented Audra Murray. “You can tell they think of Whole Foods as a ‘really cool place to work.'”

Giving Back

Whole Foods Market cares about its Team Members and positively impacts the world through its groundbreaking Whole Planet Foundation, whose mission is to alleviate global poverty through microcredit loans to entrepreneurs (88% of them female) around the world.

As one of the major donors to Whole Planet Foundation, Shoes For Crews has donated more than $130,000 toward the cause to date—and continues to give $1 for every pair of shoes purchased by a Whole Foods team member.

“Our long association has helped tremendously in building Shoes For Crews’ expertise in the food retail sector, and we are delighted to be able to give back through our commitment to the Whole Planet Foundation,” Murray said.

Shoes For Crews would like to thank the entire Whole Foods Market Team in Boca for their warmth and hospitality—and for the great lunch!
